Mark contributed over many years to the Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled, making general donations and helping to offset the costs of therapists to work with disabled children. (Possible link to BAPD)
Mark was made a lifetime member of the Bahamas National Trust (Bahamas environmental group) for his charitable contribution to the Trust’s Land and Sea Park Headquarters in the Exuma Islands. (Possible link to BNT web site info on Exuma Park)
Mark was former Chairman of the Board of the Lyford Cay School where he also made substantial donations to the development of the school’s new campus.
Mark was a member of the Board of Trustees of The College of the Holy Cross where he was a member of the Investment Committee and helped to finance programs for the crew athletic program.
Mark served in a variety of charitable roles for the Bahamian Government focused on assisting the country with its international relations. Specifically, he was appointed High Commissioner to New Zealand, was on an Advisory Committee for the former Prime Minister, and assisted the country with its relationships with the European Union and the OECD.
Mark assisted with financing the building of a sports complex at his high school helping to name the building after one of his former coaches.
Mark has provided numerous educational grants to Bahamians assisting them with tuition payments allowing them to travel abroad for their education.
For his charitable work, Mark was awarded with the designation of Commander of the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.

SIR Durward Knowles was presented with a cheque for $100,000 by Mark Holowesko on Friday at the headquarters of the Bahamas Association for the Physically Disabled (BAPD) to support “Our Real Darlings”.
Mr Holowesko, who assisted Sir Durward, the BAPD president, in raising funds for a new bus that was recently purchased, made the presentation after he returned home as the winner of the first International Sailing series event of the year last month.
The BAPD plays a vital role in the care and education of physically disabled children in the Bahamas and in improving their quality of life. Without a bus service, many children would not be able to attend the centre as their parents do not have the means to take them while it would also free mothers, who would otherwise have to stay at home to care for them, to be able to seek employment and support the family.
Mr. Mark Holowesko, Non-Resident High Commissioner Designate of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to New Zealand, met with the Permanent Secretary, Director General and other senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss matters relevant to this duties on Thursday morning, June 20, 2019 at the Ministry.
